THE GENDER PROGRAMME

Civic Empowerment of Women in the East and Horn of Africa

Cognisant of the fact that worldwide gender balance is far from being achieved, our Gender Programme supports activities designed to redress gender differentials working against women and to ensure women's full enjoyment of their human rights.

The main objectives of the Gender Programme are:-
To empower women to hold policy makers accountable regarding the protection of their rights;
• To strengthen civil society actors to assist women to claim rights and entitlements;
• To contribute to broader and deeper knowledge about internationally agreed upon standards of women's rights and incorporation of such rights into law and legal practice.

The Gender programme has five key components:-
Gender Forum;
Project partnership, monitoring and evaluation;
Capacity building and networking;
Studies/consultancies and;
